Welding: Steps to Qualify

Initial Welding Qualification:

  1. Welder shall perform a multiple Qualification test using the appropriate MANGO welding procedure per API 1104 (12” butt & branch welds) to be destructively tested and observed by a Qualified Mango Testing Facility & Tester.
  2. Upon successful completion of the test the information will be filed and newly qualified MANGO welders will be posted on the MANGO website.
  3. The initial qualification will expire six months not to exceed seven and one half months from the date of the multiple qualification test. Qualifier shall supply the welder a copy of the destructive report and shall keep one copy on file.  Qualifier shall submit a welder qualification form  along with a completed internet permission form to:

Updating Welding Qualificaiton:

  1. The welder must have engaged in the process during the preceding 6 months and be prepared to provide documentation if requested by the operator, before he/she shall start the MANGO weld requalification process.
  2. Weldor shall perform a butt weld on 4” -12” pipe using the appropriate MANGO  welding procedure within six months not to exceed seven and one half months of the initial qualification.  The welds shall  be destructively tested and observed by a Qualified Mango Testing Facility & Tester.
  3. Upon successful completion of the test the information will be filed and the new expiration date will be posted on the MANGO website.
  4. The welder qualification will then be extended to have a new expiration date twelve months not to exceed 15 months from the date of the multiple qualification test.
  5. Prior to the expiration date the welder must perform a new multiple qualification as outlined in the initial welding qualification section above (multiple qualification test will be done every 12 months).

Qualifier shall supply the welder a copy of the destructive report and shall keep one copy on file.  Qualifier shall submit a welder qualification form along with a completed internet permission form to:
